Fundraising efforts to build a Veterans Memorial began 4 years ago. The idea was planted when a Cemetery Committee was formed to refurbish and revitalize the Cemetery grounds and repair monuments that had fallen into disrepair. The Cemetery is one of the seven area cemeteries that the Walcott Hagen-Helgeson Post 166 honors each Memorial Day.
The Veterans' Memorial will stand as a symbol of gratitude and remembrance, a place for families, friends, and future generations to pay respects and reflect on the selfless contributions of our servicemen and women. The Memorial will honor veterans from 10 area cemeteries: Eagle, Hemnes (aka Lium), Pioneer, Christine, South Pleasant, South Pleasant-Christine, Walcott, Richland, Viking, and Zion United Methodist.
We want to thank all the generous donors who have made this memorial possible. Without their support, this monument could not have been completed. Keeping the Memorial maintained will be an ongoing project. It's never to late to donate. You can mail a check to: Walcott Cemetery and Veterans Memorial, PO Box 74, Walcott ND 58077 or donate online through PayPal.
